The Chilterns Conservation Board

Website design and build for the flagship website and a selection of project micro-sites.

In order for The Chilterns Conservation board to achieve their goals of conserving and enhancing the natural beauty of the Chilterns and increasing the understanding and enjoyment of the special qualities of the AONB it was imperative they had a strong online presence. One that reflected their new brand identity and had new, relevant content. Working in close collaboration with the Chilterns Conservation Board marketing team, we designed and developed a visually stunning, simple, easy to use and navigate, responsive website using the latest innovative technology. Our aim was to create a website that attracted all audience types, whether that’s a visitor looking for a walk in the countryside, a landowner looking for information on conservation farming, or a resident looking for information on planning and building design.

A striking, simple front end design led the way, using simple graphic features and block areas of content – in turn making it simple for the user to read and navigate. Built in WordPress, the website boasts flexible content types allowing the Chilterns team to easily edit on page content and create new pages in the Content Management System. The site also includes a React-built interactive map, pinning a wide selection of walking routes and other attractions across the Chilterns.

Alongside the main website we were also responsible for creating micro-sites for their key project teams including Chalk, Cherries & Chairs, Mend the Gap, Chalk Streams and Smarter Water Catchment. All sites follow a similar theme and technical function – bringing all websites together under the hero Chilterns Conservation Board brand umbrella. You can view the new website here.
